MAN FOR OUR TIME
Just every once in a while
Somebody sets himself up
And pressures everyone
Else to follow
Just every once in a while
The people fall into line
Though the conditions seem
Hard to swallow
Just every once in a while
They bow when they ought to stand
And the result is their lives are so hollow
Just every once in a while
There is no reason or rhyme
Just every once in a while
Some people say it's too much
And they're no longer pre-
pared to take it
Just every once in a while
The law has such a cold touch
That it's impossible
Not to break it
Just every once in a while
The world's oppression is such
There's really gotta be
Some way to shake it
Just every once in a while
It's gonna be a hard climb
Just every once in a while
Somebody comes with the truth
And it's impossible
To deny it
Just every once in a while
It comes so clear and so plain
There seems no reason to
Justify it
Just every once in a while
There is no shadow of doubt
The only question is
How to apply it
Just every once in a while
God sends a man for our time
Just every once in a while
You get to make a new start
The world is happy when
You surprise it
Just every once in a while
You get to play a new part
You're so excited you
Can't disguise it
Just every once in a while
The music comes from the heart
It must be real, you just
Can't synthesize it
Just every once in a while
You are God's man for our time
